Tutorial 5: Easy to Make Wedding Invitations

Try these styles for any special event or announcement. If you would rather not call all your guests and have them write their own invitation, you might be interested in making invitations yourself - and make it memorable.

If you are planning a wedding, you will want to check out these beautiful but easy invitations you can make yourself. Something hand made will set the mood for your entire wedding.

You will first need to choose your envelopes. It would be a big disappointment to get your invitation all designed and discover there isn't an envelope to fit. A square card and envelope can be very pretty, but will cost extra in postage. One solution would be to put your square invitation in a rectangular envelope.

Project 1: Roses and Bows

Supplies (makes three invitations)

  • Three Anna Griffin Satin Blue Bows
  • One Anna Griffin Pink Roses/Blue Bows
  • One Anna Griffin Cream Vellum Engraving
  • Glue Stick
  • Cost per invitation is approximately $1.80 plus the envelope.

Cut pattern paper in 4" wide strips. Cut each strip to 9" long. Prepare bows by removing center streamer. Print invitations on vellum. In page set-up Top margin 3" and all others 1/2". Click on landscape Make three columns Cut invitations 3 5/8" wide.
Step 2 Assemble Invitation
Assemble Invitation Glue vellum to patterned paper only where bow will cover the glue. Attach bow.

Project 2: Delphinium and Victoria

Supplies:

  • One Chantilly Lace Purple Cardstock CHA-p12-018
  • One Anna Griffin Delphinium AG030
  • One Anna Griffin Purple Victoria AG031
  • One Anna Griffin Lavender Climbing Rose Vellum AG253
  • One Chantilly Lace 8-1/2"X 11" White Vellum CHA-p11-081
  • 1/4" Wide Purple Ribbon Cost per invitation is $.98 plus envelope.
Step 1 Getting Materials ready for Assembly

Cut cardstock into four 5"X 6" pieces Cut AG Delphinium pattern paper 4"X 5". Cut AG Purple Victoria into 5 7/8" circles. Then cut each circle in half. You will get 4 circles per sheet. Enough half circles for eight invitations.
Cut pieces for square motif at top of invitation. Cut 1" square from scrap Delphinium. Make sure there is a flower in your square Cut 1" square from scrap Purple Cardstock.

Cut AG Lavender Climbing Rose Vellum in half lengthwise

  • Making two strips 4-1/4" X 11"
  • Fold in each end three inches
  • Fold down top corners to outside of pocket making triangle flaps.
  • With flaps overlapping, punch two holes for ribbon.

Cut ribbon into 12" lengths.

Print invitations on plain white vellum.

Page set-up

  • All margins 1/2"
  • Two columns

Step 2 Assemble Invitation
  • Glue patterned paper to cardstock.
  • Glue on half circle at the top of your invitation.
  • Glue on vellum invitation only where small squares will cover.
  • Attach small squares.
  • Put ribbon in jacket flaps and tie a pretty little bow.
  • Slide your finished invitation into vellum pocket.
