| Tutorial 3:
Snappy Embellishments |
| Eyelets, also known as snaps, are a fun
way to dress up your page and add dimension. This tutorial
will introduce you to eyelet tools, show you how to use
the tools, and give you some ideas on how to incorporate
eyelets in your scrapbook page. |

The picture on the left shows
an assortment of snaps offered at
OakleafAcre.com. The picture in the
center shows the tools you'll need:
hammer, setting mat, hole punch,
and eyelet setter. All are made by
Making Memories, high quality tools
and snaps. The third picture shows the paper and
eyelets we will use today.
The snaps we are using today require
the 1/8" hole punch and setter. Here are the steps
to creating our snappy embellishment. |
Screw the 1/8"hole punch head onto
the hole punch handle |
Place your media on top of the setting
mat and hold the hole punch in place on top of your media.
Be sure to hold the hole punch vertically. |
Strike the top of the hole punch approximately
3 times using the hammer. Be sure to place the mat and
paper on a very hard surface, such as a linoleum or wood
floor. |
| Place the snap through the front hole and
turn your paper over so that the back of the paper and
the hole of the snap are facing up. |
Screw the 1/8" setter head onto the setter handle.
Place the setter directly on top of the unfinished end
of the snap. Be sure the setter is vertical.
Firmly strike the top of the setter approximately 3
to 10 times using the hammer until the snap is attached
to the paper. The ends of the snap will separate to create
a good attachment to the paper.

Turn your paper over to discover your embellishment!
With a little practice you'll be adding "snap" to
your pages and firing up your imagination with new ideas.
