| Welcome to Elsie's Kitchen!
With retro-fresh patterns in
tart lemons, ripe cherries, and
juicy fresh fruit and cocktails,
you’'ll
feel as if you just stepped back
into the 1950s. Come play with
these kitschy papers and Anna Griffin’s
new fabric-covered brads. You’ll craft a memo
board from woven
paper strips and brads and create a tri-fold
card that ties
closed with ribbon and brads. |

Class #404 Left Page.
Trim sheet of AG1036
to 11 1/2" square. Center it onto a sheet of
AG1035 and adhere. |
Measure and mark the centers of each side of the
AG1036 paper. This will help you place the diagonal
strips onto the page.
Cut eight,
3/4" wide pieces and eight, 1/4" wide pieces
of AG1037. The 3/4" wide pieces should include
the two rows of dots and the
1/4" wide piece
should include the yellow stripes.
[Cut dots, stripes, dots, stripes,
etc. If you follow measurement
exactly, you will cut into pattern
- be careful.] |
Layer the yellow striped pieces onto
the dotted pieces,
centering them carefully. |
Layer the dotted strips
onto the background
page; use one to go from the top center to the right
center, another from the bottom center to the left
center, then another from the right center to the
bottom center, another from the bottom center to
the left center and then one from the left center
to the top center. Be sure to overlap the strips
evenly by placing them in this order. |
Use two connected strips
to add the strips diagonally from corner to corner
to complete the look; weave these to fit evenly with
the remaining strips. Adhere all of these strips
only at the edges, so that you can slip other things
under them as you do with a message board. |
| At the top, bottom,
and side intersections of the
strips, make a small slit in each
crossing. [Or us a 1/8" hole punch.]
Add a fabric brad to these slits,
with yellow at the top and bottom and
blue at the sides. |
| Cut a 5 1/2" x 7
1/2" piece of AG1039. Adhere it to the page,
slipping the
corners under the strips as shown. [You are given
one sheet of the AG1039. It needs to be cut to include
peices for both pages and the card. Our suggestion
for cutting: 1.cut 3"X12" strip
from one side to be used later for the card. 2. You will then
have left a 9"X12" peice. On the 12" side, measure
6.5" and cut across. Cut the 5.5"X9" peice to
5.5"X7.5" for the left page. Cut the 6.5"X9" peice
in half making two peices 6.5"X4.5 for the right page. |

Class #404 Right Page.
Trim sheet of AG1036
to 10" x 12". Adhere it to a sheet of AG1035,
so that the left sides of both papers line up. |
Trim a wide strip of AG1037; this
strip should have yellow
on either side of the blue dots measuring about 1 1/2". Adhere
it to the page over the joint of the two background
papers.
Cut two, 4 1/2" x
6 1/2" pieces of AG1039. Adhere these mats to
the page. |

Class #404 Trifold Card
| Cut an 11" x 7" piece of
ivory cardstock. Measuring along the long side of
the paper, mark the paper at 4 3/4" and 9 3/4" from
the left side of
the paper. |
| Score across the short
side of the paper at these marks, making a card that
has a short flap folding over the card front. |
Cover the card with AG1036. |
Cut a 1 1/2" x 11" piece of AG1039. Cut
a strip of AG1037 containing only the blue dots
(about 1" wide). Center and adhere the dotted
strip onto
the red tile strip.
Attach the layered strip
with brads to the card. (This hides the underside
of the brad on the inside of the card.) Loop red
ribbon around each brad and tie the ribbon to close
the card. Add die cuts to the card's tag, layering
the duplicate images onto the main image with foam
adhesive. |
