Dorothy is all the rage in her trendy black and white tonal patterns with chic splashes of hot pink. Learn the art of folding orient inspired paper fans – perfect for embellishing a scrapbook layout dedicated to the most glamorous person you know!

Supplies:
3 sheets AG1150 Black on White Paisley
3 sheets AG1152 Black and White Floral
2 sheets AG1151 Pink Tonal
2 sheets AG1145 Gray Tonal
1/2 sheet of DE725 Flocked Stickers
1 sheet 12" x 12" cardstock

Tools: Ruler, Pencil, Scoring tool, Decorative Scissors, Craft knife or paper cutter, Adhesive (regular & a strong tape adhesive to adhere the fans.), Foam adhesive

Class # 503 Divine Dorothy

Step 1


Use a sheet of AG1150 Black Paisley as background. Cut 6"x 6" piece of AG1151 Pink Tonal. Adhere it to the center of the page using foam adhesive. [It is easier to adhere the following mats if you adhere them before using the foam adhesive.] Cut a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of AG1152 Black and White Floral. (MAKE SURE TO CUT THIS FROM THE CORNER. You will need almost exactly what is left to make the fans from this sheet) Adhere it to the center of the Pink Tonal piece. Cut a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" piece of AG1145 Gray Tonal. Adhere it to the center of the Black and White Floral Piece.

Step 2

	Cut four 6" x 6" pieces of AG 1152 Black and White Floral.
		On the back of each piece, measure and mark the edge of the paper at every 1/4" of one side of the paper. [Mark down two opposite sides before you start to score. Before folding, make the 3" mark on the other two sides and score. It makes a much cleaner fold when you are ready to fold the fan in half after making your fan folds every 1/4"]
		Score across these markings.
		Fold the paper at these markings, as though making a paper fan. [Fold white to white to get started.]

With all the folds held together, mark the center of the long side. Make a small score mark across this mark. Bring the outer edges of the top fold up and together so that the small scored line you just made becomes the fold line. Adhere the two sides of the top fold together.This is what makes the pleated half circle. Repeat this with the other squares to make four pleated half circles.

Step 3

	(Read first, could be optional) Cut four 1/4" x 2" pieces of ivory cardstock. Fold each of these in half to make an L shaped piece. These pieces connect the pleated half circles.
		Each is adhered under the bottom flat folds from one piece to the other like a brace. OR use strong adhesive along the inner edge where the fan meets to make it adhere together in a half circle shape.

Step 4

Arrange the pleated half circles around the center photo mat; adhere the paper braces to adhere each of these pieces to each other at the corner.

Step 5

Adhere the fans to the background sheet with a strong adhesive.

Step 6


Apply any of the flocked sticker quotes to a 4" x 2 1/2" [The 2 1/2" is too large. This should be 1.5"] piece of cardstock. Mat with a leftover piece of AG1145.

Step 7

Adhere journal mat to center bottom of the middle layered squares with foam.

Class # 503 Divine Dorothy

Step 1

Use a sheet of AG1150 Black Paisley as background. Cut a 10 1/4" square of AG1152 Black and White Floral. Adhere it to the center of the background. Cut a 10" square of AG1145 Gray Tonal. Adhere it to the center of the AG1152 Black and White Floral.

Step 2

Cut four 4 1/2" squares of AG1151 Pink Tonal. Adhere them evenly on the page. It should look like a “window” with 4 square panes.

Step 3

	Cut four 3" x 6" pieces of AG1152 Black and White Floral.
		Measure and mark at 1/4" along the long side of each of these pieces. Score across the short direction of the piece.
		Fold these pieces as you folded the ones for the left page. Instead of folding the ends up and to the center, bring the top and bottom corner of one side together. These pieces are quarter circles, but they will not hold themselves.
		Cut four 1/4" x 2" pieces of ivory cardstock. Fold each in half as before. Adhere each of these pieces as a brace to the corner you've made when you brought the ends together.

Step 4

Adhere the quarter circles to the background sheet with a strong adhesive. Point the brace of the fan into the corner and glue down around fan part edges.

Step 5

		Apply any flocked sticker quote to a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of cardstock. Mat with a left over AG1152.

Class # 503 Divine Dorothy

Step 1

		Cut a 9 1/2" x 6 3/4" piece of ivory cardstock. Place it on your work surface so that the long side is parallel to the edge of the table. Mark the piece along the long edge at 4 1/2" and 9". Score up and down the paper from these marks.
		Mark the piece along the short side at 1/2" up from the bottom. Score across the paper at this mark.

You will notice that you have two 1/2" sections, one at the bottom, one at the right. These will be trimmed to make tabs to close your pocket.	Cut off the section of tab that is below the 4 1/2" wide section on the left of the piece.	Also, cut off the small 1/2" square in the bottom right corner of the piece.

Step 2

	To cut the curved top of the pocket, cut the sheet of stickers to remove the vine section. These stickers are on a clear backing so you'll be able to hold it in place and judge how to cut the curve.
	[To make the curve, I measured up 2.5" for the center, marked sides where the sticker would come. I turned my card upside-down. Then I used an 1.5" wide strip of cardstock to layout the arc. I bent it so it crossed all three points, then drew my arc with a pencil. Almost perfect!]
	Hold the sticker over the 4 1/2" side of the paper that is on the right of the piece. Cut the paper to make a curve on that side of the piece. The lowest point of the curve should be about 2 1/2" from the bottom of the piece. Remove the extra tabbing on the right side, leaving only the tabbing that will fold behind your now curved pocket. Fold the tabs in and check the fit of the finished card; this will also help you keep track of which sections of the card will be where in the final card. Unfold the card to add the following pieces.

Step 3

Cut a 4 1/2" x 6 1/4" piece of AG 1150 Black on White Paisley. Adhere it to the left hand section of the piece. [The paisley needs to be adhered to the back of the left hand side, which will become the inside of your pocket.] This will be the background of your card.

Step 4


Use a 4 1/2" x 4" piece of AG1145 Gray Tonal to cover the front of the curved pocket. Trim the excess.

Step 5

	Use a small piece of AG1151 Pink Tonal and glue it inside the curved section; be sure that the patterned side is facing down on your table, so that it will be showing on the final card.
		Use decorative scissors to trim it to echo the curve of the pocket.

Step 6

	Use a small piece of AG1152 Black and White Floral to back the AG1151 Pink Tonal.
		Cut it with straight scissors, following the curve.

Step 7

Fold and adhere the pocket and its tabs in place.

Step 8

	Add vine sticker to the front of the pocket.
	You will need to remove the center of some of the flowers separately. They are delicate so place them with the blade of your knife or scissors.

Step 9

		Cut a 5 3/4" x 4" piece of ivory cardstock to be the insert of the card. Add a quote sticker to the top of the insert.
	Done!
