They Say
It’s Your Birthday
Class #409

[When crafting the box folds, we
found it
is easier
to fold them
after they
have been
attached
to the page. You might want to use a bone
folder to
press them
flat.]
Cut three, 1 1/2" wide pieces of AG1089 and
three, 1 1/2" strips of AG1088. Adhere
strips back to
back, so there
is one strip
of green and
one of paisley.
[One of each
back to back
for right page.]
Measure and score the strips at
the following
intervals:
1-1/2", 3/4",
1-1/2", 3/4",
2-1/4", 3/4", 1-1/2", 3/4",
repeat with
second strip.
With the
paisley pattern on top, fold the strips as though
to make a box pleat, folding first up, then down,
then down, then up and repeating the folds. |
Once
these are folded
and pressed firmly
into place, mark
the horizontal
center of
each top pleat. Bring
the top and bottom
of each top pleat
to the center
line, folding
it carefully so that the outer edges make the triangles
and the centers meet as shown.
| Piece
the strips together
so that there's
a 12" long
piece to go across
the left page. (By doing
three strips
now, you will
also have the
strip ready for
the right hand
page.) Mat the
pleated strips
with a 1 3/4" wide
piece of AG1087
[green on both
edges]. Mat it
again with a
2 1/4" wide
piece of AG1090.
Adhere the matted
strips to the
background sheet
of AG1088, about
2" from
the bottom of
the page. |
For the
photo mats, cut two 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" of AG1090. For
photo corners, cut two 3/4" x 12" strips of AG1087,
centered on the wide blue stripe. Cut each of these
12" strips into four 3" strips. |
Fold
each of these smaller strips around the corners of
the photo mats, adhering the ends behind the mats. |
Adhere
photo mats to the page. |

They Say It’s Your
Birthday
Class #409
Cut a [approximately] 3.25 " piece
of AG1087;
the measurement
comes from
matching
the pattern
evenly as
shown. Adhere
it to the
AG1088 background
page, about
2 1/2" from
the right
side.
To make the
photo mat, cut one 5" x 7" piece of AG1089, one 5 1/4" x
7 1/4" piece of AG1087 (centering the pattern
evenly on the finished piece) and one 6" x
8" piece of AG1090. Layer these pieces
evenly
to form the photo mat.
[Adhere
the strips of
AG1087 and AG1090,
cut while assembling
first page.]
Hold the photo
mat in its final
position. Adhere
remaining matted,
pleated strips
from left page
onto the background
paper. (Holding
the photo mat
in place while
you do this makes
sure that you'll
place the pleated
sections in the
best way possible.)
[Attach
pleated strip
to left end of
strips and cut
off access where
photo mat will
cover. Adhere
remaining strip
to right end.]
Adhere photo
mat in place. |
| For tag, cut a 2 1/4" x
4" piece of ivory cardstock. Trim corners at
a slant. Mat the tag with AG1087. Punch a small
hole in the top
of the tag and finish the tag with a brad. Adhere
tag to page. |

Class #409
Card

Cut the ivory cardstock to 7" x
12". Score and fold the cardstock to make
a 6" x 7" card. On the open side,
measure and mark a point 3" up from the bottom
corner. Draw a line from each folded corner
to that point and cut the card. This leaves
you with a triangle shape. |
Cover the card with AG1089. |
Cut a small section of
AG1088 with scalloped scissors. Hold it to
the top of the card and trim to fit the point of
the birthday hat. |
| Cut a variety of thin strips of AG1088
with scalloped scissors. Adhere the ends of
these to the back of the AG1088 piece that covers
the top of the hat, so that they appear to come out
from under the brad. Adhere this section to
the top of the card. You can wrap the thin
scalloped strips around your fingers to give them
more curl. |
Cut a 1” x 3” piece of ivory cardstock. Trim
the corners on the left end to make a tag shape. |
| |
Cut four, 1/4 x 1 1/2 “ strips
of AG1088 and adhere to the end of the tag as shown,
allowing the strips to overlap. Adhere tag to card above
pleated strip and write birthday message on tag. |
